SITUATION AND DIRECTION
From your camp site Esterel Caravaning, it takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to the small lively village Lavandou. When leaving Esterel Caravaning turn right direction Frejus – Saint Raphael. Once at Frejus take direction Saint Tropez then direction Lavandou.
At around 70 kilometres from Esterel Caravaning you’ll find the resort Lavandou. Spread out over 12 kilometres the Lavandou village offers 12 beaches and creeks, all preserved natural beauty spots. Once joined to Bormes les Mimosas, Lavandou gained its independence in 1913 and acquired its international status as a resort on the Côte d’Azur.
It’s said that King Louis the 11th extremely ill docked in Lavandou to be nursed back to health and to avoid the Pest that ravaged Marseille at the time. Lavandou is a typical fishing village and has continued its market tradition the “pescadous” sell their catch every morning to the villagers and the tourists.
The Lavandou coastline is a joy for scuba and deep sea divers, dolphins (the emblem of the village) can very often be seen too, on the boat trips over to les Iles d’Or.
