A two-sided region, the Estérel Côte d’Azur alternately reveals the wonders of a world-renowned Côte d’Azur and the wild gems of a more secret Estérel, a veritable ocher-tinted setting, nestled between the Azure waters of the Mediterranean and the emerald forests of umbrella pines.

Over 250 million years ago, the Estérel mountains, Corsica and Sardinia were all part of the same continent. This landscape gradually evolved under the pressure of the African tectonic plate. Consequentially, the Estérel mountains and the Moors remain the last vestiges of this crystalline Provence. On the other side of the Mediterranean, in Corsica, the Calanques de Piana and the Scandola Reserve recall their past attachment to the Estérel mountains.
