SITUATION AND DIRECTIONS
From your camp site Esterel Caravaning you need around 1 hour to get to the wonderful Gassin village. When leaving the Esterel Caravaning turn right direction Frejus – Saint Raphael, once at Frejus take direction Saint Tropez then follow the directions to La Croix Valmer, then Gassin.
At less than 40 kilometres from Esterel Caravaning you’ll find Gassin, one of the prettiest villages in France. At 200 metres altitude, on a rocky hilltop that overlooks the Gulf of Saint Tropez and gives a splendid panorama view of the Massif des Maures and all of the Provencal countryside all the way to the snowy peaks in the Alps.
Trapped in time the village has preserved many of the traces from its past like the dozens of doorways dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, the oldest dates from 1422. The delightful little back streets turn and twist around the village allowing you to discover all the charms of Gassin village. You’ll even find the Androuno passage considered to be the smallest street in the world ; of course only one person at a time can pass there !
The richness of this village is found within its walls but also around it, its vineyards and Domain producing the very famous Côte de Provence wines very much appreciated by wine connaisseurs. Following the example of its neighbouring inland villages Cogolin and Grimaud, Gassin village has also branched out and developed its own Port on the coastline.
