Hyères

At 100 kilometres from Esterel Caravaning you’ll find the sublime resort Hyères. It’s the town that inspired the name “Côte d’Azur” for the region given by Stéphane Liegeard in 1887, it’s also known as Hyères les Palmiers for its 7000 palm trees in and around the town. Hyères is spread out over 30 kilometres which makes it one of the largest communes in France. Hyèresis an ancient thermal centre, numerous personalities and the aristocracies went there for their health, benefiting from the waters and the exceptional micro-climate.

The influence of the English patients at the time marks the local architecture. Nowadays Hyères has conserved its particularity of being known for its many health establishments. Hyères was also the first town on the Côte d’Azur to plant exotic plants palm trees of course but also cactus and numerous exotic flowers. Facing Hyères on one of its islands you’ll see the Archipel des Iles d’Or a true paradise the 2 islands Port Cros and Porquerolles are partially protected by a National natural park and are the treasures of the Côte d’Azur.
